We returned to the Dominican Republic for another round of Panic en la Playa at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. Being our second year in a Dominican rock & roll paradise, we had familiarized ourself with the property in a way that made it feel like home. Everyone was welcomed by familiar faces as we arrived at our tropical destination.
The band must have made a pact with the weather because both were near-immaculate all four days long. Sunny afternoons gave way to moon and star filled evenings where we met on the beach and listened to our beloved songs in the sand. Special guests from the late night band Playa Allstars, including George Porter Jr. and Col. Bruce Hampton, among others, sprinkled their flavor into Panic’s sets at various times over the week. Guest sit-ins helped engrave these shows as truly spectacular; ones we won’t soon forget. When the final show wrapped up with Life During Wartime, it was as if time stood still and our collective energy was dispensed into that moment. We danced ourselves to the airport, ready for Cuatro!
